This is an event re-scheduled because of the riots in Manchester last month.

This 1 hour documentary highlights the experience and testimony of Mr Tsutomu, one of 30 people who witnessed both the Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombings, and his talks to the UN and to schoolchildren prior to his death in 2010 at the age of 93 after considerable health issues.

19th September –  Film “Imagine Rainbow In Katmandu”,  Cross Street Chapel

Singer/Song-writer Carole Isis will open this film event about IRIK, an amazing children’s music project in Katmandu Nepal. The Swiss film maker Thomas Bertschi will visit the UK to introduce this wonderful film made between November 2005 and April 2006 under turbulent political circumstances.  Experienced and well known Nepali musicians working with very varied groups of children throughout the Katmandu valley  created a unique and diverse musical performance which represented the dreams and wishes of the children.  Fusing visual arts and music, the project gave the children the opportunity to express themselves in colour and music, creating a collage showing the rich heritage of the Kathmandu valley guided by sound and colour- from the past to the present into the future.  The music project is a unifying and continuing peace legacy to the region and donations will go to support future work of the Rainbow project www.rainbow-project.ch

25th September – Peace and Social Justice History Walk

Meet 10.45am at Robert Owen statue, Corporation St

This walk will visit sites in Manchester city centre associated with the movement for peace and social justice. It will last 2 hours and be led by Michael Herbert (Red Flag Walks)
